The Department of English was established in 1935, being coterminous with the foundation of the erstwhile Gurucharan College. Following the institution’s transition into a State University, the department continues to build on its long-standing academic tradition while adapting to the broader responsibilities of a university. The department currently offers programmes in English at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels: BA (FYIMP), MA, and Ph.D.
